PRIESTHOOD IN THE MARKET PLACE (MARKETPLACE MINISTRY) – PART 2
RECAP: In the last episode we discussed the removal of Spiritual-Secular Dichotomy – All tasks glorify God. Business is Ministry, Ministry is not higher than business. In the ‘word for pastors’ session, we asked the question – Are you leading a church that goes to the world, or a people that goes to church?
What is market place ministry? “The directing of evangelism and other Christian activities towards the
secular marketplace.” I think the simplest definition is to be a disciple and witness for Christ in and
through your work or business.
WHY IS THE MARKET PLACE IMPORTANT? In the secular marketplace, the majority of the people you work with are lost and need Jesus. You will interact with many who will never go near the door of a church.
CO-EXIST -DONT HIDE. In Marketplace Ministry, instead of hiding your faith, you live your faith for the world to see. Your business and ministry coexist so people can see what an authentic relationship withJesus Christ looks like. That is Marketplace Ministry!
MINISTRY IS NOT FOR THE CHURCH ONLY-BUT SECULAR. We need to accept the responsibility that many of us have traditionally left for the full time ministry. When God called a priest hood he called the whole nation. He wanted every man involved.
The starting point. See your business with an eternal perspective; making an eternal impact on everyone you meet through your business dealings. Do not separate your business life from your spiritual life – instead acknowledging they are one and the same!
Recognize where God has placed you in business and what He expects as a result of your efforts there.
He is not going to grade you on your business success as the world does. Instead, God is looking for the eternal impact you will have as a Christian business owner or leader.
