Universal Priesthood – Episode 4

PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS OF THE UNIVERSAL PRIESTHOOD

Recap: In the previous episodes we debunked the wrong belief that Ministry work is for a select few –
We are all Priests. Salvation is by Faith in Christ alone, not in penance, or good works. Clergy vs Laity is not God’s plan originally. Priests serve and not merely receive. Step up in Taking responsibility in Prayer and the word.
Today we discuss the privileges, next Episode is for the Responsibilities

Privileges: Believers (Priests) are privileged. All believers have been chosen by God: a “chosen
generation…His own special people”). We have direct (unfettered) access to God

● In the Old Testament tabernacle and temple, there were places where only the priests could go.
Into the Holy of Holies, behind a thick veil, only the High Priest could go, and that only once a
year on the Day of Atonement when he made a sin offering on behalf of all of the people.
because of Jesus’ death upon the cross of Calvary, all believers now have direct access to the
throne of God through Jesus Christ our great High Priest (Hebrews 4:14). Seeing then that we
have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast
our profession. What a privilege to be able to access the very throne of God directly, not through
any earthly priest. Its not to be treated casually and carelessly

Impact on Prayer Life: Boldness – Praying to a willing God. We have Assurance (full assurance of faith
and there is no limited access).

● We are chosen for a purpose (God is a god of purpose)
o For an assignment (unique, good deed): our purpose is to serve God. Ephesians 2:10,
Jeremiah 1:5.
o To offer up (spiritual) sacrifices ⇒ devotion and service with our spirit, soul and body.
Rom 12:1
o 1Pet 2v9. To proclaim the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into His
marvelous light (with our mouth and life) (see Hebrews 13:15-16 ), 15 By him therefore
let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving
thanks to his name. and
o To be living epistles. 2 Corinthians 3v2-3

CONCLUSION
● Have you entered the throne room, or are still hesitating?
● Do you exercise fear or faith in your prayer?
● What good works are you assigned? Have you discovered your purpose?
