THE NECESSITY OF PRAYER
INTRODUCTION
Many people want to pray or even become prayer warrior. You may be thinking that God knows everything, so why do we need to pray? Well, you’re right, God is omniscient, but we should pray because He tells us to. This series of teaching sheds light on some of the important things to know about prayer.
Why Pray?
- Created for Fellowship– Genesis 3:8 – And they heard the voice of Jehovah God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: The platform of fellowship is prayer.
- God Commands it.Jeremiah 29:12, Mark 14:38, Luke 18:1, Colossians 4:2, 1Thessalonians 5:17, 1Peter 4:7 KJV
- Prayer is God’s appointed way for obtaining all things, and the great secret of all lack, in our life and in our work is neglect of prayer. James 4:3, James 4:2b, Matthew 7:7-8.
2 Chronicles 7:14 – If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive. The corollary is true.
- The first church — the Apostles — regarded prayer as the most important business of their lives. Study Act 6:2-4.
- Prayer, is the great antidote for anxiety. Philippians 4:6-7.
Conclusion-
‘Despite what we may or may not understand about prayer, God has deliberately chosen this particular vehicle as the one that drives His activity in people’s lives. It’s what He allows us to use to cooperate and partner with Him in the fulfilling of His will. He’s created prayer as a primary way of putting us into personal contact with Him and with His eternal realities, any hour of the day or night. ~ Priscilla Shirer
