Episode 2 – Prayer Series (WHY PRAY?)

WHY PRAY?

Introduction:

In Episode 1, we began to share about the necessity of prayer. We learned that prayer is a command by God, It is a platform for fellowship, it is the platform for receiving from God, and it is the antidote for anxiety. In this episode, we continue in the same line of thought about ‘the necessity of prayer’.

 

Episode 2 Introduced WHY PRAY?

 

  • Prayer is the way to obtain fullness of joy. John 16:24.

 

  • Prayer promotes our spiritual growth indeed as nothing else but Bible study; and true prayer and true Bible study go hand in hand.

 

 

  • Prayer resolves the sin issue.Psalms 139:23,24, Psalms 66:18

 

  • Prayer brings power into our work. Priscilla Schirer says“Prayer is the portal that brings the power of heaven down to earth. It is kryptonite to the enemy and to all his ploys against you.”

 

Mark Patterson says, “Prayers are prophecies. They are the best predictors of your spiritual future. Who you become is determined by how you pray. Ultimately, the transcript of your prayers becomes the script of your life.”

In other words, who you become, the circumstances in your life, and the core of your character are all determined by what you talk to God about. According to the Bible, the power of prayer is, quite simply, the power of God,

 

  • Prayer avails for the conversion of others.

 

  • Prayer brings blessings to the church.

 

  • Because there is a devil (Warfare)
  • Jesus said, “…deliver us from the evil one” (Satan). Matthew 6:13, 1Peter 5:8-9, James 4:7.
  • He taught us to “tie up the strong man”. Read Matthew 12:29.
  • ‘‘And from the days of John the Baptist until the present moment the kingdom of heaven has been continuously taken by storm…’’ Matthew 11:12
  • Puton the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Read Ephesians 6:11-13.

Conclusion: These points are shared to make us see the need for a refreshed prayer life. Pray for an infusion of grace to pray.
