BENEFITS OF FASTING
- To humble yourself before God. Ps 35v13 Refocus, sobriety, reflection, change of perspective. Spiritual mode.
- Fasting increases the power of prayer several times over. Fasting is a Catalyst. Fasting restores and amplifies prayer power. Isa 58 v9
- Fasting is a key to the impossible. (See the examples of David, Moses, Israel, Church History etc)
- Enhances Spiritual Growth James 4:8 says:
- Improves Your Health Isa 58v8
- Illumination: To understand God’s word. When you fast God will give you a greater and deeper understanding of His word. Isa 58v8
- Helps in Finding God’s will & receive direction. Acts 13:2-3 Isa 58v8 b
- Deliverance from evil spirits. Isa 58v6 (Mk 9:29) Before Jesus Himself entered His ministry of healing and deliverance, He fasted and prayed for forty days.
- Divine intervention in serious crisis, personal or national or when some tremendous problem has arisen, which we can’t handle by ordinary means. 2Ch 7:13
- Revival fasting affects the work of God-Revival Healing, Miracles, Church growth
Conclusion
There is ample proof that Fasting is not only good for the Spirit, but also for the Soul and the Body. In view of these benefits, this is a discipline that every serious Christian should embrace
